We Are Water
We Are Water Minnesota is a partnership formed to tell Minnesota’s water stories collaboratively, bringing together personal narratives, historical materials, and scientific information. Combining these ways of knowing water strengthens Minnesotans’ relationships with and responsibilities to water. The We Are Water MN partners are the Minnesota Humanities Center, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, the Minnesota Historical Society, the Minnesota Department of Health, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
We Are Water stories have been placed in a large, interactive traveling exhibit which will visit eight partner sites in Minnesota, and one of those sites is Itasca County! From August 4th through September 16th of 2019 the We Are Water exhibit will be at The Reif Center in Grand Rapids, displayed in the Reif’s main lobby.
In addition to the main We Are Water exhibit in 2019, Itasca Waters and its local partners will be staging our own water-related events in Itasca County beginning in September of 2018 and continuing for a year. The kickoff event is called Ruination, and will be a weekend-long affair focused on families and teams of friends who will bike on Grand Rapids bicycle trails to several venues collecting clues. More details to come!
